It All Started with Artisanal Moonshine...
Just published in the British journal, The Drinks Business,is my story on how American craft distilling got its start and a look at where it may be going.
Cocktails Are Made in the Garden
Pull out a note pad or a tape recorder, and every winemaker will whisper her secret to you: "The wine is made in the vineyard!" Follow Kim Haasarud around a farmers' market, and you'll soon see her secret to making cocktails - they are all made in the garden. So if you're tired of the same old gin and tonic or classic Manhattan, maybe it's time to turn over a new leaf. Cucumber or basil will do for a start.

As a native West Virginian, I have viewed the New River Canyon as one of our greatest natural wonders - especially when you are roaring through a rapids on a flimsy raft!
